This position is under the Communications Division which oversees communications, community relations, community engagement, and access to public information.
The Division also maintains the city's website, social media channels, and city brand.
What you'll do:
The Digital Communications Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of communications and engagement projects to disseminate information and promote the services and brand strategy of the City of Laguna Beach.
Specifically, this role focuses on the execution of communication campaigns through the City's social media, website, newsletters, and other digital communications and marketing initiatives.

Pre-employment Process:
Selected candidates must successfully pass a fingerprint check with the State Department of Justice, and a pre-placement physical including a drug test.

Minimum Qualifications Any combination demonstrating the ability to effectively and successfully perform the duties of the position is considered qualifying.
A typical combination is as follows:
Education:
A Bachelor's Degree in Journalism, Public Administration, Marketing, Communications or comparable experience.
Experience:
Three (3) years of recent, progressively responsible experience in information dissemination, news writing and public relations, preferably in a public sector setting is desirable.
Work experience in journalism, social media, web management and production, communications, public relations or a related field is desirable.
Experience with website maintenance and coordination of social media is highly desirable.
License/Certificate Requirements:
Due to the performance of some field duties, which may require the operation of a personal or City vehicle, a valid California Driver's license and an acceptable driving record are required.

The duties and responsibilities of this position are performed in an office environment and involve sitting, standing, and walking for prolonged or intermittent periods of time, and include reaching, bending, and twisting at the waist to perform desk work and operate general office equipment including a personal computer with keyboard for prolonged or intermittent periods of time.
The operation of a personal computer requires finger and wrist dexterity and the ability to withstand exposure to vibration, pitch and glare from the computer.
Employee must be able to safely lift and carry video equipment, books, files and reports weighing up to 25 pounds.
The incumbent must be able to lift files and reports from counter tops or file drawers and withstand exposure to vibration, pitch and glare from a computer.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
